Young Adult Enrichment Program

Creating a life filled with purpose and joy is at the heart of what we do.

Young Adult Enrichment Programs are designed to give your child opportunities to grow, connect, and enjoy their days.

As Giuliana often says, “It’s not babysitting. It’s creating a life that has purpose and meaning for the young adults.”

Activities That Bring Meaning to Every Day

The Genovation Young Adult Enrichment Program is designed specifically for participants aged 17 to 35 who have been diagnosed with a genetic disorder and/or have high complex needs,  without the provision of complex behaviour management or intensive restrictive practices.

This program goes far beyond simply keeping young adults busy — it’s about creating meaningful, enriching experiences. We’re not just offering the usual bowling or movie outings. Instead, we focus on thoughtful, purposeful activities that are tailored to the unique needs and interests of each participant.

With specialised support in areas such as cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual and learning delays, genetic disorders, and other complex care needs, every activity is planned with care and intention.

Whether it’s cultural outings, hands-on creative projects, or engaging sensory experiences, each day is designed to help participants build skills, gain confidence, and feel truly valued. Our goal is to provide opportunities that align with individual goals and personal growth and not just to fill time, but to make every moment count.

From exploring vibrant community spaces to discovering new talents, the Genovation Young Adult Enrichment Program makes every day meaningful for the young adults we support.

Visiting Accessible and Welcoming Locations

We carefully select places that offer the best accessibility and opportunities for your child.

Here are some of the incredible locations we love to visit.

Easy and Inclusive Shopping at Macarthur Square

This shopping centre is perfect for young adults, with accessible parking close to the shops and large lifts that fit two to three wheelchairs comfortably.

Disability-friendly change rooms are available, with one equipped with a hoist for added convenience.

Carer Statement: “Macarthur Square’s lifts are fantastic—spacious and accommodating, even during busy times.”

Exploring Art at Bondi Sculptures by the Sea

This event is a favourite for young adults who love art.

While not all sculptures are accessible due to stairs, flat pathways allow access to most displays.

Staff and road blockers are friendly and helpful, often making extra efforts to make sure wheelchairs have easy access.

A walk-through museum of miniature sculptures makes sure everyone can enjoy the experience.

Carer Statement: “The staff at Bondi Sculptures by the Sea went above and beyond to make the experience special for everyone.”

Sensory Fun at Stuart Park, Wollongong

Stuart Park is a beautifully upgraded, accessible space.

It features wheelchair-friendly play equipment, including a swing, and a sensory garden filled with plants to smell and touch.

Flat pathways make it easy to explore, and young adults love finishing their visit with the Wollongong coastal walk.

Carer Statement: “The sensory garden at Stuart Park is a favourite. Watching young adults engage with the plants is so rewarding. “The Wollongong coastal walk near Stuart Park is also a beautiful way to end the day, with young adults enjoying the fresh air and ocean views.””

Smooth Sailing on Manly Public Ferries

The public ferries from Circular Quay to Manly are a highlight.

Staff prioritise wheelchair users during boarding, making sure of safety and comfort.

The ferries have wide boarding bridges, accessible bathrooms, and specific seating areas for wheelchairs.

The boardwalk at Manly offers additional accessible facilities, perfect for a relaxing day by the water.

Carer Statement: "The public ferries at Manly are incredible. The priority boarding system keeps young adults relaxed and safe.”

YAEP HIGHLIGHTS

EMBRACE LIFELONG LEARNING

The Genovation Young Adult Enrichment Program has been designed for ages 17-35 year old participants diagnosed with a genetic disorder and or high complex needs, without the provision of complex behaviour management and/or requiring intensive restrictive practices.

Our key learning areas are directly related to our participants goals and interests, and are designed to support their independence as they enter a new chapter of their life as an adult.

FULFILMENT, HAPPINESS & VALUE

We enjoy being out and about and being social. We have fun greeting people as we move about in our community.

We incorporate community collaborations and partnerships as part of our program, providing opportunities to build relationships in the community and expand friendship & support networks.

Supporting our young adults to express themselves and understand their holistic value in our community is something we take great pride in at Genovation.

EXPLORE AND EXPAND HORIZONS

Our learning programs are structured to improve engagement in real life experiences. We love providing our participants opportunities to visit new and exciting places, try new activities, and even partaking in familiar activities with a renewed perspective or skillset to practice.

Understanding being young adults, especially just leaving school can be a daunting time. There are many changes which evoke a mix of nervous and excited feelings.

We enjoy supporting our young adults and their families to grow and experience joy and overcome challenges with supports outside of the family home.

OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Our Young Adult Enrichment Program are proud to be active participants in our local community. We enjoy doing this by:

  • Taking part in the Box Divvy fresh food hub, supporting access to fresh, affordable produce. Our young adults pack the orders each work for the local members of the community.

  • Attending 2 accessible, safe, communal Plus Fitness gyms in Emerald Hills and Ingleburn to promote our young adults physical health and wellbeing.

  • Participating in hydrotherapy sessions at Ripples St Marys Leisure Centre which supports our young adults wellbeing by improving mobility, strength, and coordination, while also promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and encouraging social interaction in a supportive environment.

.

  • Visiting local shops weekly to build life skills, confidence, and community connection. These interactions help improve our communication, while strengthening confidence and a sense of belonging in the community.

  • Collecting recycling bottles throughout the week, picking some up from the Plus Fitness gyms, then return and earn the bottles at Red Frog Recycling in Gregory Hills, helping build responsibility, environmental awareness, and everyday life skills.

These activities help foster independence, inclusion, and a healthy lifestyle for all our participants.
